Also of interest is an area of 188 km (116 mi) around the lake fenced off as a sanctuary to protect Rothschild giraffes, black rhinos and white rhinos, among the other animals.
Hell's Gate National Park covers an area of 68.25 square kilometres (26 sq mi). Olkaria and Hobley's, two extinct volcanoes located in the park, can be seen as well as obsidian forms from the cool molten lava. There is a wide variety of wildlife in the national park, though many are few in number. It’s a wonderful place for hiking, bicycling, and climbing.

It is globally famous for its exceptional population of lions, leopards and cheetahs, game, and the annual migration of zebra, Thomson's gazelle, and wildebeest to and from the Serengeti every year from July to October, known as the Great Migration.
